1. Who We Are
This website is operated by WET Global UK, trading as WET Water Softener. We are the UK division of WET (Water Enhancing Technologies), a water treatment technology company headquartered in Belgium.
For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR), WET Global UK is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website.

2. What Data We Collect
We collect personal data when you interact with our website. The types of data we collect depend on how you use the site.
Data you provide directly
When you submit a form on our website — such as the Free Water Test form, the Find a Dealer form, or the Contact Us form — we collect the information you provide. This typically includes your full name, email address, phone number, and postcode.
Data collected automatically
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain technical data through cookies and similar technologies. This may include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, pages visited and time spent on each page, referring website, and approximate geographic location based on IP address.
We use this data to understand how visitors use our website, to improve its performance, and to measure the effectiveness of our marketing. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
Data from third parties
We may receive data about you from our authorised dealer network — for example, if a dealer logs the outcome of a home survey or installation that was arranged through our website.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
To connect you with your nearest authorised WET dealer when you request a free water test, a home survey, or a dealer consultation. This is the primary reason we collect your contact details and postcode.
To respond to enquiries submitted through our Contact Us form.
To send you marketing communications about WET products, services, and promotions — but only if you have given your explicit consent to receive them. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
To improve our website and services by analysing how visitors use the site.
To comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:
Consent: when you submit a form requesting a free water test, dealer contact, or marketing communications, you consent to us processing your data for that specific purpose.
Legitimate interests: we process technical data (such as analytics) for the legitimate purpose of improving our website and understanding our audience. We have assessed that this processing does not override your rights and freedoms.
Legal obligation: in some cases, we may need to process data to comply with UK law.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We share your personal data only with the following parties, and only to the extent necessary:
Authorised WET dealers: when you request a free water test or dealer consultation, we share your name, contact details, and postcode with the dealer nearest to you so they can arrange your appointment. Your data is only shared with the specific dealer serving your area.
Website hosting and analytics providers: our website is hosted on Framer. We use analytics tools to understand site usage. These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements.
[CONFIRM] Confirm: list all third-party processors — Framer (hosting), Google Analytics or Plausible (analytics), any email service (e.g. Mailchimp, Loops), any CRM (e.g. HubSpot). Each needs to be named.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not share your data with advertisers.
6. International Transfers
WET Global UK is part of a Belgian parent company. Some of your data may be transferred to and processed in Belgium for the purpose of internal administration and dealer coordination. Belgium is an EU/EEA country and provides an adequate level of data protection under UK GDPR.
Some of our third-party service providers may process data outside the UK and EEA. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
Free water test and dealer enquiry data: retained for 24 months after your enquiry, unless you become a customer, in which case your data is retained for the duration of your customer relationship plus 12 months.
Marketing consent records: retained for as long as you remain subscribed, plus 12 months after unsubscribing.
Analytics data: retained in anonymised or aggregated form and is not linked to identifiable individuals.
[CONFIRM] Confirm: retention periods with Leon. Adjust if WET has different internal policies.
8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right of access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: you can ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances.
Right to restrict processing: you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
Right to data portability: you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing purposes.
Right to withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@thisiswet.com. We will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, or alteration. Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
10. Children
Our website and services are not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
