Which areas of the UK have hard water?

The hardest water in the UK is found in London, the South East, East Anglia, the East Midlands, and parts of Yorkshire and the Midlands. Cities like London, Brighton, Cambridge, Canterbury, Bristol, Chelmsford, and Guildford are known for very hard water. Scotland, Wales, and parts of the North West generally have naturally soft water. Water hardness is measured in parts per million (ppm) — anything above 200ppm is considered hard, and above 300ppm is very hard.
