Straightforward advice on water softeners, hard water, and getting the most from your Notric system.
What is the difference between a salt-based and salt-free water softener?
A salt-based water softener (like Notric) physically removes the hard minerals from your water through ion exchange, giving you genuinely soft water. A salt-free system does not actually soften water — instead, it alters the minerals so they are less likely to form limescale deposits. Salt-free systems do not remove minerals from the water, so you won't get the same benefits for skin, hair, or cleaning. For true limescale prevention and the full range of soft water benefits, a salt-based system is the proven, effective choice.
