Straightforward advice on water softeners, hard water, and getting the most from your Notric system.

How much sodium does softened water contain?

The sodium content depends on your water hardness level. As a general guide, for every 100mg/L of calcium carbonate removed, approximately 46mg/L of sodium is added. In most UK hard water areas, this amounts to a very small quantity — significantly less than what you'd find in a glass of milk or a slice of bread. British Water confirms that softened water in areas below 400ppm hardness complies with UK drinking water standards.
