Straightforward advice on water softeners, hard water, and getting the most from your Notric system.

How is water hardness measured?

Water hardness is measured in parts per million (ppm) or milligrams per litre (mg/L) of calcium carbonate. The scale is: Soft (0–60 ppm), Moderately Soft (61–120 ppm), Slightly Hard (121–180 ppm), Moderately Hard (181–240 ppm), Hard (241–300 ppm), and Very Hard (300+ ppm). Many areas in the South East exceed 300ppm. You can check your water hardness by entering your postcode on your water supplier's website, or by requesting a free water test from Notric.
